Lady Yotes Blank Corban, Advance to CCC Semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – College of Idaho recorded their seventh shutout win of the season, equaling the most wins in program history with a 3-0 victory over Corban University in the Cascade Conference Championship quarterfinals at Willamalane Park.

The Lady Yotes (14-3) advance to meet Eastern Oregon tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (PT) for a spot in the CCC championship match.

The win was C of I's first postseason victory since a 4-0 decision over Oregon Tech in 2009, with the 14 wins on the year equaling that 2009 team for the top mark all-time by the Lady Yotes.

"Corban gave us everything we wanted and then some," said head coach Brian Smith. "We've been off for 18 days without a game so it was interesting to see how we would respond.  Corban put a lot of pressure on us in the first half and we managed it well.  That was a good win."

C of I controlled the pitch over the first 25 minutes of the match, getting the eventual game-winner in the 21st minute. Sydney Woods played a ball to the middle of the box, with Camas Curran punching home the counter.

The Yotes got a key insurance goal early in the second half, as Jamiece Yizar played a pretty cross atop the 6-yard box, with Allie Boyd driving home her first goal of the season.  Yizar capped the scoring inside the final 10 seconds, bending a 25-yard shot from the near sideline into the right corner of the net.

Brittany Houghton was stellar in goal, making seven saves to keep the Warriors (7-11-1) off the scoreboard.

C of I had a 14-11 edge in total shots with both teams recording four corner kicks.

The Yotes will meet Eastern Oregon, a 3-0 victor over Northwest, while on the other side of the bracket, Carroll stopped Great Falls, 3-2, and Southern Oregon earned a win over Rocky Mountain in penalty kicks.
