Coyote Men Sign Seven for 2012-13

CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho cross country and track coach Pat McCurry has announced the signing of seven men's athletes to NAIA Letter of Intents for the upcoming 2012 cross country and 2013 track and field seasons.

"Our hope this year was to improve on our middle distance and distance groups - as we have a good core group returning in the sprints and jumps."

Leading the group is four-time state champion, Joseph Bolin, of Payette High.  Bolin won both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles at the 2011 and 2012 3A state championships, while will give the Yotes a boost in the pole vault, where he has cleared 14 feet in the past.  Bolin, also an All-State soccer player, will play soccer for the Coyotes this fall.

Joining Bolin are a trio of Treasure Valley distance runners Max Hampton, Jake Meeker, and Miles Ranck - all giving the Yotes needed depth in cross country and the ability to score points on the track.  Hampton, from Eagle High, finished in the Top-10 in both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter races at the 5A state championships as a senior, while Meeker, from Mountain View High, finished sixth overall at the 5A state cross country championships last fall and ran a 4:20 in the 1,600-meters this spring, placing third at state.  Ranck, from Boise High, finished fifth overall in the 2011 5A state cross country meet, recording two Top-8 finishes in the distance events at the state track meet.

A trio of others will also add to the depth of the team, including local product Matt Goodwin of Bishop Kelly High, Alex Wirtz of Twin Falls High, and Stephan Stilts of Crescent High in Washington.
